it makes me happy

that the "Car Talk" guys seem just as awesome in real life as they are on the radio. I've listened to "Car Talk" on Saturday mornings for as long as I can remember...  Dad always had it on when I would wander bleary-eyed into the kitchen looking for sustenance, comics, and lately, crosswords.

I found tapes of the show behind our broken boom box on top of our china cabinet and now I'm spending lots of time listening to what seem like genuinely happy people laugh. It's not just that they're funny; it's that they seem kind.

It makes me want to move to Massachusetts. Probably not the best impulse to act on, but still.*

*I am, however, going to Maine with Miss Laura Rizzo in a week! Maine used to be part of Massachusetts when the States were colonies. It was like a satellite section of Mass. Isn't that interesting? Oh New England...
